Getting started
How do I book a consultation?
Start with a short online assessment about your health and what you'd like to work on. Then you choose a time for a live consultation with an Australian-registered practitioner. Every plan starts with that conversation. Your assessment answers on their own never lead to treatment. See how it works
What does Bio Chain Clinic help with?
We offer consultations in 5 areas: Weight management, Performance & recovery, Men's & women's health, Healthy ageing & wellness, and Skin & aesthetics. Each area has its own page explaining what your practitioner looks at. Browse the treatment areas
Who runs Bio Chain Clinic?
Bio Chain Clinic is a Brisbane telehealth clinic based in Tingalpa. It's veteran owned and run: co-founders Ryleigh Egan and Jarryd Blake both served. Your consultations are with an Australian-registered practitioner, and every clinical decision is theirs to make. Read the founders' story
What do I need for my consultation?
You'll need a phone or computer with a steady connection and a quiet, private spot. It also helps to jot down the medicines and supplements you take, plus anything you'd like to raise. It's common to end up with more than one thing on that list.
Consultations
Who will I speak with?
You'll speak with an Australian-registered practitioner. They ask about your health history and goals, then work through each concern you raise. If something needs your GP, another practitioner or an in-person check, they'll tell you and explain why.
Can I get treatment from the online assessment alone?
The assessment on its own never leads to treatment. It helps your practitioner prepare for your live consultation, where you talk things through together. Any decision about treatment comes after that conversation, and only if it's clinically appropriate.
Can I talk about more than one concern?
Yes, and plenty of people do. You might book about your weight, then mention your sleep or energy too. Your practitioner works through each concern with you and explains which options, if any, suit you. If something sits outside what we cover, they'll say so. Start your assessment
What if telehealth isn't right for me?
Your practitioner will tell you plainly and suggest where to go next. That might be your GP, an in-person assessment, more tests or another practitioner. Some concerns need a physical examination, and a telehealth consultation can't replace one. In an emergency, call 000.
Costs and fees
How much does a consultation cost?
You'll see the consultation fee before you book, so you can decide first. If your practitioner suggests tests or treatment, they explain those costs before anything starts. Nothing goes ahead until you've agreed to it.
Does DVA cover Bio Chain Clinic fees?
Our fees are private, and DVA doesn't cover them, whichever DVA card you hold. You'll see the consultation fee before you book. If you'd like care funded through DVA, your GP or DVA can explain the options open to you.
Will blood tests cost extra?
Blood tests aren't part of every consultation. Your practitioner only suggests them if they think tests would help. If so, they'll explain why and what you'll pay before you agree. It's your call whether to go ahead.
Do I have to commit to anything after my first consultation?
You decide what happens next. Your practitioner explains any next steps and what they cost, and nothing goes ahead without your agreement. If you'd rather take time to think it over, that's fine too.
Treatment and prescriptions
Will I get a prescription?
A prescription is only one possible outcome. Your practitioner considers one after your live consultation, and only if it's clinically appropriate. Your plan might instead be lifestyle advice, monitoring, more tests, a referral or no treatment at all.
What happens if treatment is recommended?
If treatment is deemed medically appropriate, your practitioner explains what it involves and what it costs. You hear the next steps before you agree to anything. You can ask questions at any point. You're also free to say no, or to get a second opinion from your GP.
Can my plan change over time?
You can book a follow-up consultation whenever something changes, and your practitioner will review your plan with you. Any change to your care goes through them first, after a conversation with you.
Does Bio Chain Clinic offer mental health care?
Mental health care isn't one of our treatment areas. Veterans and their families can call Open Arms on 1800 011 046 for free, confidential counselling, any time of day. Anyone can call Lifeline on 13 11 14. If you're in danger, call 000 now.
