Bio Chain is a Brisbane clinic for people who train hard and want a clinician's view. Your practitioner looks at what sits behind each session.

What is a sports recovery consultation?

It's a live consultation about how you train and how you bounce back. Your practitioner asks about your training load, sleep, stress, food and health history. Then they explain your options. That might be advice, a referral, more tests or treatment where clinically appropriate.

Your training load.

How often you train, how hard you go, and when you rest.

Your practitioner.

They ask about sleep, stress, work hours and any medicines you take.

Treatment only if it fits.

Treatment is one option among several, and never a given.

What your practitioner asks about.

The topics a sports recovery consult can cover, and what happens after it.

Follow-ups around your training.

Follow-up consultations with your practitioner, booked around your sessions, your shifts and your week.

When treatment comes up.

Treatment is discussed only if your practitioner finds it clinically appropriate. Advice or a referral may suit you better.

Every plan starts with your consult.

How it works

Every step runs through your practitioner.

  1. Tell us everything you'd like to work on. Then choose a time for a live consultation with your practitioner.

  2. Your practitioner asks about your history, how you train and what you take now. Then they explain your options, which may include advice, tests, a referral or no treatment.

  3. If your practitioner decides treatment is right for you, they explain the next steps and the costs before anything starts. Your plan sits in your patient account.

  4. Your practitioner checks in to see how you're going. They answer your questions and change the plan if it needs changing.

Is this consult for you? Let's find out.

Your consultation decides what's appropriate. If this isn't the right fit, your practitioner says so and points you to care that suits.

Who it suits.

You train most weeks, or you served and still do. Bio Chain is veteran owned and run, and your service history is welcome in the consult.

What to mention first.

A current injury, other medicines or a tested sport? Tell your practitioner up front. Chest pain during exercise needs your GP or 000 first.

You'll know who looks after you.

Every consultation is live, with an Australian-registered practitioner who signs off on any treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers here. The full FAQ page has more, and your practitioner can go through anything else.

Do I need to be an athlete to book?

No. Sports recovery consultations suit anyone who trains regularly, from weekend runners to people with physical jobs. Your practitioner looks at your whole health picture as well as how you train.

What happens in a sports recovery consultation?

You talk live with your practitioner about your training load, sleep, stress, food and health history. They tell you what they think. Your options might be advice, a referral, more tests or no treatment at all.

Will I be prescribed anything?

Only if your practitioner decides it's clinically appropriate after your live consultation. A consult can just as easily end with advice on sleep, training load or rest days, or a referral elsewhere.

Do I need blood tests?

Not always. If your practitioner thinks blood tests would help, they'll explain why and what's involved before you decide.

Can I talk about an injury?

Yes, as part of your history. Your practitioner asks how it affects your training. They may refer you to a physio or your GP for hands-on care.

What does it cost?

You'll see the consultation fee before you book. Fees are private. If treatment is suggested, your practitioner explains the costs before anything starts.
